My wife and I stayed at Barony Beach Club during the last week of December, 2017. It had been a couple of years since we had last stayed in Hilton Head and during that visit, we stayed at Marriott’s Grand Ocean, which is a few miles south of Barony Beach Club.

We arrived at about 3:30 PM on Friday and check-in was relatively quick and smooth. Sharon was a trainee, but she quickly assigned us a villa. Unfortunately, the villa was on the fourth floor. Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue, but my wife doesn’t take elevators and I had requested a first-floor villa during three separate occasions prior to our arrival. I was told that this request wouldn’t be a problem, so I was surprised when there was a mix-up. We were reassigned a first-floor room, but it was a handicap villa.

The décor of our villa was beautiful and my wife commented that it was the best layout of any Marriott Vacation Club resort that we’d ever visited. This includes resorts in Orlando, South Florida, Las Vegas, California and Hilton Head Island. There was Wi-Fi in the villa and nice televisions with numerous channel options.

The resort had several planned activities for both adults and children, including movies, a welcome breakfast, arts and crafts as well as adult activities like blackjack, casino night, etc. The week before we arrived, there were planned tours of the area, including Savannah, Bluffton and winery tours.

Barony Beach Club also has a nice fitness center, with several treadmills, elliptical trainers, free weights and a few weight machines. There is also a full-service spa on-site. We didn’t go to the on-site restaurant, All Y’all’s, but the menu looked good and it was consistently busy.

With the resort having easy access to the beach, we watched the sunrise before heading to the fitness center to work out. There is also on-site bike rentals for a nominal fee.

Overall, the resort is excellent with a very friendly staff. My only complaints were the issue with getting the requested room and also I felt that the Wi-Fi was extremely slow. Being in a handicap room, we only had one sink in the bathroom, which wasn’t horrible, but could have been avoided.

Love staying at Barony Beach Club. Can enjoy the pool or short walk to beach. Great for everyone, if you love to stay in and cook or enjoy great restaurants our family loves going to Hilton Head and Barony Beach Club has it all covered.

As owners we travel to Barony Beach in Hilton Head often. We have visited nearly 92% of all Marriott timeshares in the U.S. We most recently visited Barony Beach the week in October, 2014. We experience "nearly perfect weather."

Today (Oct 3) was NOT a good day to fly Delta.

However, the Oct 2, 2014 weather report indicated a large front, N – S in US going through St. Louis. Lots of flights were delayed or cancelled on Oct 1 & 2. Nobody has a crystal ball to predict the weather. No worries! Que Sera, Sera

We arrived four hours late at Barony, and were greeted by two wonderful young ladies, Kelly and Emily. Kelly is a Brit and Emily has spent some time in Australia; for those of us who enjoy global travel, it was neat to converse with both Kelly and Emily. The conversation transitioned our holiday into a week of carefree bliss.

We are alert to the continuing Marriott effort to place "people persons" at the front desk to meet Marriott guest. The welcome could not have been better!

Barony Beach is a very small Marriott property in Hilton Head. This is an oceanfront property; although the dense canopy of trees will obscure the Atlantic view for many owners and guests. Seems the perfect holiday during January through May, and October through December. Clientele is mostly adults , and adult couples. This is not a venue for swinging singles. The primary artery 278 is often clogged by stoplights during June, July and August; although, locales advised us that the nearly 3 million summer and golf tournament visitors really do suffer gridlock. Barony Beach is much too small to employ activities directors, but front desk staff and maintenance staff are first rate.

Nearby Publix, and the new Kroger, commercial establishments, and 200+ restaurants provide the necessary creature comforts. The local Landrys restaurant, Chart House provides white table and waterfront ambience. Savannah is the local airport and rental cars are necessary (as with most resorts.) We always overnight the first night or two in Savannah for the historical and cultural pleasures as well as to dine at the Olde Pink House and other classic Savannah restaurants. Be cautious of the speed trap (Bluffton) and be certain to visit Beaufort for dining and a delightful small town visit. We avoid the summer hoards as well as the golfing tournaments. It is an easy beach walk between Barony Beach and Surf Watch. Barony Beach has superb trading power, resale and rental opportunity (use Redweek and not Marriott.)

Be prepared: The Garden Units have a no view of the Atlantic and are very close to the Westin. Barony may have an agreement with Westin to bill Westin charges to your Villa_Ask at front desk.

Barony Beach has added a terrible energy saver, that disables the A/C. The new HD flatscreens and HD channels are appreciated.

Consistent condo maintenance prevents this property from growing long in the tooth. Hilton Head provides numerous resources for the outdoors person. The discriminating epicurean may require some research of restaurants. If it looks like a kid place, a sports bar, a fast food chain, a tourist trap, avoid wasting your time on a poor meal. The Barony Beach staff just does not know the restaurant scene, and neither do the tourists.

As Barony Beach owners for several years, we have several requirements for lunch and dinner restaurants. Great service, interesting and great meals, ambience, and presentation are well worth top dollar.

I have been going to South Carolina for years; particularly to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island. My family's choice has consistently been Hilton Head Island (HHI). Barony Beach Club is a wonderful resort and family friendly. With a choice of pools (3 outdoor and 1 indoor pool), there's always a place to take a quick dip. I've often said that my idea of "roughing it" is a black and white TV and a cold water pool. Well those days are over! Barony Beach club has heated pools throughout the day! In addition, when you to travel to HHI you will find that the beach water is warm to the touch- ecstasy for us who enjoy a swim in warm ocean water. The beach itself is great for catching rays, making sand castles or literally riding your bike on the beach with the family.

The daily activities at Barony Beach Club is also well organized. They have plenty of activities to choose from.

The onsite "All Y'alls" grill and bar is great for a quick bite or drink.

There's plenty to enjoy in HHI, but Barony Beach Club is a great place to be with the family while also enjoying the island.

Family and I stayed at the Barony the week of 7/20/13 thru 7/27/13. This was our first time satying at the Barony and the first time visiting Hilton Head Island. Comparing the Barony to other higher end places we have stayed along the Atlantic coast Hilton Heand and the Barony has been one of the Best!! From the time we checked in to the time we left the staff made our stay as comfortable as possible. I was actually shocked how well attentive the staff was during our stay. We had an oceanfront room which had great views of the ocean from every window and balcony. I also liked the view of the main pool area from our balcony. If my wife went down before me or vise versa we could look out to see where they were sitting. The garden area was very nice. If you do not care about an ocean view you will not mind the garden view. They have a shuffle board, corn toss and a small pavillion area which has 8 very nice gas grills. If you are a family that plans to cook in a few nights and like grilling you will be very pleased with the grills on location. By the main pool the resort had a bar and grill called All Yall's. They serve drinks of all kinds and several good menu items. I was pleased with everything I ate or drank from the Bar. The prices to me were also in line for what you would pay at a local bar grill. One thing we were a little disapointed about was the Wetlands pool area. The pool area was very nice especially if you have a todller. The issue we had was the slide height requirements of 48". Our son was 47 3/4" and they refused to let him on the slide. He is 6 years old and we have been to many water parks that he went on slides that were 5 to 6 stories high but for whatever reason the life gaurds would not let him go down. We tried to reason with them but the life guards would not budge. If you have your kids have their hearts set on utilizing the slide make sure they measure 48". My family and I really enjoyed our vacation at the Barony and cannot wait to go back next year!

Stayed here the first week of June for 5 nights in the Bayberry Building with a Courtyard View. We found the location to be excellent as well as the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. I used my Reward Points for the stay so did not pay anything. The only negative thing I have to say (which is not the resort's fault) is that the buildings by the beach are quite close together, so there is not much of a view if you are looking at the Courtyard because you see the cornhole toss, shuffle board and the grilling area as well as the building on the other side. Good if you are into people watching. If you don't have an ocean view then the garden section across the street behind the Weston with the new pool area has a better view, but then you are father from beach. But they constantly run shuttles and the walk isn't that far. We were fine with the building we were in because it was half way between the beach and the garden pool.

The new pool area in the garden section is beautiful and perfect for children with a zero entry and many water features. Unfortunately, the new slide was rather pathetic. My son 9 yrs old went down it twice and didn't go on it again. Very slow. There were no kids on the slide, so I guess they felt the same. Also my 4 yr old daughter did not meet the 48" height requirement so ended up crying because she could not go on it. Even though she went down most waterslides that were faster at the Disney water parks. Not sure what Marriott based their slide requirements on.

None of these things bothered us, and we had a wonderful stay overall. Bottom line is that it is a lovely resort with nice amenities and a beautiful beach. One of the best things about the resort is that it had men's and women's locker rooms so on check out day we were able to shower and get dressed after a full day at the beach.

We did stay at the SurfWatch in June of 2012 and preferred it over the Barony because the buildings were more spread out and had more of a nature view of marshes and ponds and ocean. Just a personal preference I suppose.

I have to comment on the posting by the gentleman who flys into Savannah each year. He stated there is no activity director at the Barony. I don't know whether that's the case or not, but I do know for a fact this resort has planned activities every single day for various age groups. Perhaps my experience differs from his because I've stayed at Barony only from Memorial Day week until the week after Labor Day. But in this time period there are all sorts of activities planned by the staff at Barony, from free ones like margaritas with chips and salsa for adults, to playing Texas Holdem (another adult activity but with a fee), to making ice cream sundaes, necklaces from beads, picture frames with shells and tie dye t-shirts. I've done all of these activities (and many others) at Barony, some with my husband or grown daughters, and many with grandchildren at different ages. And we've found the concierge at Barony can be quite helpful with suggestions for restaurants - we enjoyed most she suggested. But we've not expecting places with great gourmet food (although I'm sure there are many in Hilton Head), but generally enjoy a bit simpler restaurant when we're at the beach. My daughters and I also enjoy the many, many wonderful consignment shops to be found on the island - we get 'finds' at great prices, and benefit local non-profits in the process. My husband, son and daughters enjoy golf, and often take advantage of checking the last minute golf options to be found online. Hilton Head is fun for all of us. And the Barony is a really nice resort, a great place for a laid back vacation, the reason we go to the beach.

Nice vacation, nice room set up but......beds were a bit too hard. The only other problem was that they did not have enough dressers to accommadate the number of people that could sleep. I had to leave most of my luggage in my suitcase. BTW we were 2 adults and 1 child. We each had 3 medium sized drawers and a night table. The pool was nice and the beach was lovely.... Too far to take a walk to local shops.

We stay oceanfront each time which can't be beat as its so close to the beach and the pool with the fountain. If you have a lot of little ones, and all their stuff to carry, I recommend these rooms.

we love it so much, just bought an oceanfront which we had to wait to become available but was worth it.

just returned from a week at the Barony. Loved it! This is the first time our family has ever been to Hilton Head, and we were not disappointedl We plan on going two weeks next year. The staff was wonderful, the pools were fabulous, right on the beach, the villa was nice, clean and spacious and had everything we needed. There is no restaurant per se at the Barony, but there is good food to be found there in a pinch, from the pizza hut at the Marketplace, to food at the Bar Grille next to the pool. We ate breakfast and lunch either in our villa or by the pool, grilled out and ate in the shaded garden one night, and found awesome local fare the remainder of our stay. Hubby and I worked in the hotel biz for years for Marriott, Westin, Hyatt, Omni, etc, so we have become too particular about where we stay, and are usually disappointed. We actually HATE staying in hotels, but we loved this place. Was much more like being in your own apartment on the beach. We either had very quiet neighbors, or the place is well soundproofed. I thoroughly recommend this location!

Just returned from a week at Barony and this place just gets better and better. We had an oceanfront villa and loved sitting on the balcony watching the dolphins in the morning. Maintenance was not an issue as everything worked perfectly and the property was exceptionally clean and manicured. Hotel personnel were all very friendly and helpful and I can't wait to go back again. This is my favorite of the HH Marriotts.

Barony is our favorite of the Marriott Hilton Head properties! It has a wonderful full service spa, access to all the Westin offers next door, and a little more intimacy in the design. Of course, it has a great beach, beautiful pools, lovely villas, and all the other usual amenities.

And the condos are GREAT- everything you could ever need is there- beds are better than home- newspaper at your door every morning, bikes to rent, nice choices for food/snacks in The Marketplace- had a super pizza our first night so we didn't have to go out for food or groceries- ate by the pool and had a lovely first night. Close to shops, restaurants, and the BEACH!!!! Can't wait to go back. Rented a week from owners thru RedWeek- is there any other way? So easy- and we've met the nicest people this way! Thanks!

We just returned from a week August 18 - 25, 2007. We would definitely go there again. We were directly ocean front and the breeze while we were sitting on the balcony was great! Lots to do for all ages. Our nine year old loved the pool. The teenagers had plenty to do. We went to Savannah, went on a dolphin and crabbing tour, ate at the "Sea Shack" , took a golf clinic at Port Royal, rented bikes. A good time was had by all.

We own an Oceanside unit which we take in the first week of the Platinum season - just after Memorial Day weekend. This time of year is just begining to get a little busy with the first wave of school kids getting out in many parts of the country. It is 85 - 90 degress warm, sea breeze by the water keeps you comfortable and the water is perfect. We were placed in the Sea Oat building which had recently been refurbished and was in great condition. We suggest you try for either this or the Live Oak building. The other two main buildings will probably get their updates in the next slow season (?) We've been coming here since 2001 and still love the place - first class in every respect. Great beach, close to golf, close to restaurants and any necessary shopping. Port Royal Plantation location is ideal - mid island.

Ideal location on one of Hilton Head's quieter stretches of beach, yet still convenient to bike trails, restaurants, shops, etc. Full service European spa on the property was a great plus! Extremely friendly and accomodating personnel. Excellent, excellent, excellent!!

We are just winding up our week now (Oct 22, 2005). We are in an oceanview unit, which has not been updated with marble counters and new furniture. However, the place is in perfect condition, and has recently been painted. I am very impressed with the maintenance of the facility. This is a great resort, with fun activities, a great beach, close to stores. This time of year we can get to Sea Pines in 10 minutes by car (by bike, it's very far). We toured 5 other Marriotts here, and liked this one the best. No internet yet, but I think they have to have it in the next couple months. Other than that, Barony is just perfect. Staff has been super friendly. The smaller resort might help in that regard. Every night here we slept like bricks in dead silence, even on the "old" Marriott 4" mattress. This has been a real vacation.

The Barony Beach Club is beautiful, teh pools ae great and the activities were awesome. The only drawback I could see was the location. My family likes to rent bikes and ride most of the time but you really couldn't do it here. You could ride just for fun but to ride to go out for pizza or to go to Sea Pines you simply couldn't could not. Depending on where you wanted to go it was fine but for us most places just weren't accessible with 3 children in tow. We preferred the Grande Ocean better.

This was our first visit to HHI (our home resort is Cypress Harbour in Orlando). We were VERY impressed! We do plan on coming back...

We were there from 9/24 to 10/1 of 2005, and it was great. Barony Beach definitely maintains the Marriott tradition of great service. The 2 bedroom units were spacious and well maintained, and when we did have a couple of minor issues, the maintenance staff handled them that day.

The Concierge (Nettie) was very helpful and knowledgeable. Be sure to take the afternoon sail with the schooner "Welcome". What an enjoyable time!!! ( There were plenty of activities for all ages at the resort.

We stayed in a building that was behind the oceanfront building (Sea Oats). It was no problem walking to the beach, and there were plenty of nice pools and hot tubs if you don't like salt water. I've seen some complaints about the "garden" units being too far away from the beach. We spent some time over there, and I have a different view... It was very quiet in that area, and only a 5 minute walk from the beach. The butterfly garden was a nice touch.

I'm a picky person... And the ONLY complaint I have was no hi speed internet as yet. In the grand scheme of things, that's pretty minor.

A beautiful island, and a beautiful resort...

Great location, close to the beach. The garden villas are only a 10-15 minute walk to the beach, but Marriott has extended golf carts to shuttle people back and forth.

Villas have everything you need for a great family vacation, typical of Marriott. Pools are great, outdoor barbecues worked fine. Maintenance staff responded within 15 minutes to minor issue.

Location on island is OK. Harbourtown is 20 minutes away, Shelter Cove Marina only 5-10 minutes.

One downside is that Marriott doesn't include any rounds of golf at this particular timeshare. There are 3 complete 18-hole courses 1/4 mile away at the Port Royal Golf Club.

Overall, this is a great resort and I look forward to returning.

This is a great resort. As someone who has been vacationing on HHI for almost 30 years I will say this is my favorite resort to date.

Barony speaks of "Old Hilton Head" in the 70's and 80's. By that I mean the beach is nice, clean, safe and not over crowded. North Forest Beach was like this in the past (by Marriott's Grande Ocean and the Holiday Inn).

Pool is perfect for toddlers and young children with its huge sun shade umbrella in the shallow section with a zero depth walk-in entry to the pool. There is a kiddie pool and the perennial child favorite: The Turtle Fountain!

The Staff is great and everyone keeps the Barony clean and in order.

My Mother,daughter-in-law,my two grandchildren and I stayed at Barony Beach for fall break last year and I would rate it five star all the way. The bathrooms are large and have a step-in shower for a elderly person who cannot get into a tub. AS I viewed my family, I knew they would be Marriott all the way and never want to stay anywhere else ,again. I love the soaking tub myself and the jets worked wonderfully on my back after driving. We had oceanfront and the only problem we had was the building to the left of us had a noisy generator during the night if you were out on your lanai or balcony. I hope they fixed it by now. I believe that was another condo, not Marriott. Marriott is wonderful. Vacation clubs will spoil you. Sherrie Moore

Planned activities that children can enjoy each and everyday. Golf, tennis, delicious dining, Harbour Town and much much more. Savannah, Charleston and Beaufort are just a short drive. Whether you enjoy golf, tennis, biking, hiking, sun, surf or just plain relaxing HHI is the place.

This is one of the most beautiful, spacious resorts I have seen and stayed so we decided to buy a timeshare when it was being built. Since then, we only used it twice because of the great exchange opportunity to stay in other resorts. Great outdoor activities; shopping; dining, etc. The villas are nicely decorated; large kitchen; dining room, clean, too. We always take friends and families from out-of-town to spend a day swimming; barbecuing, biking, etc.

Wonderful accomodations on-site. Health Club, Resturants, Pools - all very nice. Very good location in the middle of the island.

Not my favorite HH location, but the units are new and beautiful. Beware, however, that many units are "garden view" and a decent hike from the beach, set back some distance behind the Westin. The "ocean view" villa I stayed in might have had a slight/distant ocean view if the trees hadn't grown... The access to the Westin is probably convenient for some, but I would prefer to be away from the crowds.

The view from the oceanfront villas is exquisite. The units are large and well appointed. Activities are plentiful and the staff is friendly and competent.

Very nice resort, and close to 5 stars but not quite. The beach is not quite as nice as Grande Ocean at this location. Overall a great value though. This end of the island a little closer to more golf courses. Staff was very nice and cordial.

From Ocean View, it's a short walk to get a coffee, and then an equally short walk to the beach! Just over a small bridge-and you're there! The chairs are all set up on a most beautiful, tranquil beach. Looking over the balcony is like being in eutopia-- No sound but the ocean, and the trees in the breeze. One of my friends said it reminded her of Aruba. The people are fabulous! One indoor pool, and two outdoor, with several hot tubs. The room is huge! 2-way access to the patio. We had two families fit fine. Biking, the marina, the beach, the fabulous trees! No traffic sounds, the cars are hidden in the garages, just beautifully done! Wow! We can't wait to go back!

This is a very nice Marriott Resort located on superb beachfront property. There are several outdoor pools as well as an indoor pool and spa area. Many activities for the kids. A great place for families to vacation.

Golf, shopping, bike trails, Putt-putt, beach, tennis, restaurants, and children's fun park are all close. Highly recommended.

Just returned and the resort is wonderful. Pools are great and beach is clean. Staff very friendly and honest. My husband left his wedding band and housekeeping returned it. Thumbs up and would definetely return!!! Garden villas are a bit of a walk if you have children, expecially at the end of the day. Would stay oceanside next time.
